When thousands of tourists arrive Kerala to explore its culture, and wealth of traditions, the natives of the' Gods own country' are moving away from it. The objective of conducting this fair is to bring back out the villages of Kerala to the open space to showcase the age-old tradition and culture of the state to people from other places as well as the Keralites. Attended by natives of other states like Delhi, Kolkatta, Mumbai and Bangalore will take part in it. This festival is conducted every year for 10 days and the beach grounds will turn out to be a gala ground. Even if you tour whole Kerala you will not be able to understand the culture and tradition as easily as you understand from here. Under just one roof, Kerala is depicted clearly to the world. Kovalam was bravely chosen for conducting this festival as almost all types of tourists will be present there especially honeymoon couples.

The musical evenings are an extravaganza for them. We, people, are so excited to watch the global village in Dubai where almost all countries and their traditions are exhibited in large grounds. Same is done at Kovalam, where a creation of typical Kerala village is done. The first sight which rushes to our minds when we think about a typical village in Kerala is the traditional Nalukkettu homes or Tharavadu. This age-old architectural miracle is every time favourite of architects and designers, and most of the houses are made in contemporary styles these days. At Gramam village fair, a creation of thatched houses is done and are lighted up at nights. The Upper-class traditional houses, Tharavadu is also built. The Nalukkettu model is the quadrangular mansion mainly made of wood with a central opening. Maybe the foreigners or people from other natives may find it really interesting as the house is made up of large pillars, corridors, courtyards and dormitory windows.
The sight gets even shining when one enters it as it houses priceless furniture, musical instruments, old artefacts, ethnic jewellery, exquisite paintings, and wood Shao pieces, shields and swords. It is not just the display of upper-class households but Kerala style huts and houses of a low class are also exhibited. Kamalagramam is the highlight of the exhibition and ladies will find it interesting as this is the home of artisans that displays antique jewllery, handicrafts and paintings. The artworks of talented artists are displayed here.
